Melinda Brockie comes home

We’re pleased to report that Melinda Brockie, the Federation member shot and wounded in the Las Vegas tragedy came home to the Lummi Reservation in Northwest Washington Oct. 25.

She was honored with a parade and a police escort from the Bellingham International Airport to her home, according to the Bellingham Herald.

Brockie, a social service specialist 3 with Children’s Administration in Bellingham and a member of Local 1060, was shot through the jaw during the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival near the Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas Oct. 1.

Her family expects a long recovery, the Herald reported. DSHS said today that thanks to the generosity of state employees, Melinda has already received the statutory maximum amount of shared leave.
