What if your job class isn't listed?
The July 1, 2022 increase for specific job classes is an unprecedented policy decision outside of normal bargaining. WFSE members lobbied and advocated during the legislative session to get additional increases in the Governor’s supplemental budget. This absolutely would not have happened if it were not for WFSE members' advocacy.
The legislature would not agree to specific class increases and instead approved a dollar amount ($85 million). OFM had to get feedback from all of the unions, but it was not considered bargaining. Through this process, we advocated for and submitted over 100 additional job classes, but ultimately OFM decided the final list.
While it does provide raises for many, we understand there are many more who are deserving, and we will continue to fight for those increases during regular bargaining.
In addition, most everyone will get a 3.25% increase in July, 2022, and those making under $99,000 will also get a lump-sum according to income level. This is also unprecedented.
What happens if these raised are voted down?
The nearly $85 million class-specific pay increases secured for WFSE members will be gone and all of those job classes will then be vying for the same pot of money in 2023-25 contract negotiations, greatly reducing the gains we have the potential of winning. This is the first step, and we need to keep the momentum going.
