Ashley Fueston

Vice President

Ashley Fueston was elected to her first term as Vice President at the 49th Biennial AFSCME Council 28/WFSE Convention. Fueston is dedicated to public service and to unionism because she wants to help bring hope to other Washingtonians who need support and solidarity during tough times.

Fueston has been an instructor with the Strategies for Success program at the Employment Security Department for three and a half years. She finds fulfillment in helping people find new career paths after significant life challenges.

Fueston became active in our union when she was invited to a WFSE Local 443 meeting. She went on to serve her local as a shop steward, local secretary, and local president. Fueston received the Steward of the Year Award from Local 443 and in 2019, was awarded the Rising Star Steward Award from AFSCME Council 28/WFSE.

Prior to becoming a public employee, Fueston helped community members access job resources at WorkSource, where she received several professional awards in recognition of her contributions. She also served in AmeriCorps.

Born and raised in Thurston County, Fueston lives there with her wife and kids. She enjoys supporting her children in sports, wrestling, band, the color guard, and soccer.

Per the collective bargaining agreement, Fueston will continue in paid status while fulfilling her role as council vice president.
