About Us

Cultural Workers United Washington / AFSCME member Allison Campbell

We are the Washington home of AFSCME Cultural Workers United, a nationwide movement of cultural workers who have formed unions with AFSCME for better pay and benefits and a voice in our work.

We work across departments in art and history museums. We expand the role of arts in the lives of Washingtonians. We protect and preserve our collective history for today and for future generations.

As members of the Washington council of AFSCME, AFSCME Council 28/WFSE, we are represented by one of the largest unions in Washington, with nearly 50,000 members to stand by our side — from organizing a union to negotiating a first contract and beyond.

The Union Difference

Organizing with AFSCME makes a difference regarding salaries and other workplace benefits for cultural workers. See notable contract gains for AFSCME cultural workers and why it pays to negotiate from a position of strength.

What's the Latest?

After a unanimous victory in their union election, our members at Tacoma Art Museum are getting ready to enter contract negotiations. You can follow their progress on their Instagram @TAMWorkers.
