USA Policy Cmte wants you!

New name -- Unified State Agencies Policy Committee -- and fresh start for former Miscellaneous group.

There’s a new name and fresh start for the union policy committee for more than 4,000 workers in such agencies as Commerce, Licensing and Health.

This new Unified State Agencies (USA) Policy Committee meets for the first time June 30. And they want you to take part if you’re in one of the agencies covered by the new USA Policy Committee.

The committee was formerly called “Miscellaneous” because it includes agencies that don’t fit into one of the seven other General Government Policy Committees.

The USA Policy Committee delegates and our AFSCME Council 28 (WFSE)_ Executive Board approved this name change.

Policy Committees define, discuss and forward for action issues unique to the areas of work covered by the workers covered by their respective policy committees.

"Additionally, we invite WFSE members that are in our USA Policy Committee agencies* to become a delegate," the committee’s officers say. "We meet quarterly with other members to define and work through issues unique to your workplace."

Policy Committee meetings are where work place issues are turned into action items.

Some of these items are in the form of resolutions that get passed along to the AFSCME Council 28 (WFSE) Executive Board.

“We want you to take part and share what work place issues matter the most to you."

  • The next Unified State Agencies (USA) Policy Committee meeting is scheduled for Saturday, June 30, 2018 in Seatac.

"We plan to use our time together to brainstorm and identify our common ground and look forward to seeing you at our next USA Policy Committee meeting on June 30, 2018 in SeaTac."

The USA Policy Committee officers are:

  • Chair – Jeff Paulsen, Consolidated Technology Services;
  • Vice-Chair – Scott Mallery, Health;
  • Secretary – Wendy Conway, Office of the Insurance Commissioner.
