Join advocates, community leaders, policymakers, students, and other civic-minded Washingtonians on November 17 for Budget Matters 2020 Virtual Summit — Where we go from here: Ensuring an equitable recovery.

The current public health and economic crises brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic are exacerbating deeply rooted inequities. What would it look like for an economic recovery to center community well-being? How can we get resources directly to the people who need them most? What role can advocates and lawmakers play to fund the investments needed for a robust and equitable recovery? Together, we will reimagine what it takes to build an economy that works for everybody.

We are honored that longtime champion for justice, Paola Maranan, will open the summit by moderating a panel conversation featuring Abigail Scholar, executive director of Central Washington Justice For Our Neighbors and steering committee member of Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network; Toni Lodge, CEO of The Native Project; and Pamela Duncan, CEO and President of Metropolitan Development Council. Learn more about our speakers here.

Breakout sessions will focus on three critical policy areas: Basic needs, Cash assistance, and Progressive revenue. Speakers will include local community leaders as well as members of the Budget & Policy Center team. Learn more about the breakout sessions here.

Closed captioning and Spanish translations will be available during the entire program.
